Bloco Notto & Upbe^t

Delighted to announce that we will be resuming Bloco Notto from September 2021 as well as introducing an exciting new rhythm and percussion ensemble called Upbe^t!

Our new ensemble is for city pupils ages 8 and above and guess what, you don't even need to have a musical instrument!

This exciting group will learn everything from Taiko drumming to stomp type drumming, body percussion from other cultures and other creative ways of using everyday objects as musical instruments!

They will meet once a week on Fridays from 4:00 PM to 4:55 PM at Nottingham Playhouse. All rehearsals will also be streamed online using Microsoft Teams so if you are unable to attend a session for any reason, you can just log in from the comfort of your home and still be part of the practice session.

Bloco Notto

If you love drums and percussion, Bloco Notto is perfect for you! Bloco Notto helps young people develop skills on percussion instruments from across the globe, with tuition from experienced percussionists.

We run two Bloco Notto groups. Our Beginner's Group is for young people with little to some experience of playing instruments, while our Advanced Group is aimed at people who have been playing a percussion instrument for a while and want to learn more complex samba rhythms. Bloco Notto has performance opportunities throughout the year at our concerts and city cultural events. All instruments are provided so just come armed with your spirit and love for music!
